Does a job offer increase your CRS score?
No. IRCC removed arranged-employment CRS points on 25 March 2025. A Canadian job offer can still support provincial nomination and work permit options.
No. IRCC removed Comprehensive Ranking System points for arranged employment on 25 March 2025, so a Canadian job offer no longer adds 50 or 200 CRS points to an Express Entry profile. A job offer can still matter in other ways: many Provincial Nominee Program streams require or prioritise one, and an offer can support an employer-specific work permit that builds Canadian work experience.
Key facts
| CRS points for a job offer | Zero, since 25 March 2025 |
|---|---|
| Previously | 50 points (TEER 1–3) or 200 points (senior management) |
| Still relevant for | Provincial nominee streams and employer-specific work permits |
| Indirect CRS effect | Canadian work experience gained on a work permit does add points |
| Warning sign | No genuine employer charges a candidate for a job offer or an LMIA |
Who may qualify?
- Candidates with a Canadian employer willing to support a provincial nomination
- Candidates eligible for an employer-specific or LMIA-exempt work permit
- Candidates already in Canada converting work experience into Canadian Experience Class eligibility
Eligibility requirements
- For a provincial stream: an offer that meets that province's occupation, wage and duration rules
- For a work permit: a valid LMIA or a recognised LMIA exemption
- Genuine employment with a legitimate, operating Canadian employer
How it works: step by step
- 1
Recalculate without arranged employment
Remove any job-offer points from older calculators and estimates.
- 2
Check provincial streams
Several employer-driven streams still weight a Canadian offer heavily.
- 3
Consider the work permit route
Canadian work experience earned on a permit does raise CRS over time.
Expert insight
RCIC strategy consideration: since the March 2025 change, an offer is worth pursuing for the work permit and provincial nomination it can unlock, not for the score. Candidates who still budget for a paid 'CRS-boosting' job offer are usually being sold a fraud.
